Babies begin when a sperm from a man fertilizes an egg from a woman. This fertilized egg grows into a baby over about nine months in the woman’s uterus, a safe and nurturing environment until birth.
Babies start in the womb, a special place inside the mother where they grow from a tiny cell after the father’s sperm fertilizes the mother’s egg. Over nine months, the baby develops into a fully-formed infant, ready to be born.
